BCICS Goals
The BCICS aims to:
Develop Co-operative Studies as a recognized academic field and reveal the full range and possibilities of this new discipline. In realizing this goal we:
- Assist researchers to become established in their academic careers as specialists in Co-operative Studies.
- Continue to develop an online “virtual department” in Co-operative Studies.
- Support Co-operative Studies education within post-secondary institutions.
Disseminate a wide range of useful resources on credit unions and co-operatives to fill the need for materials that are currently unavailable or difficult to access.
Create partnerships between practitioners and researchers within the co-operative movement. In doing so we strengthen connections with credit unions, co-operatives, and other community groups and reinforce the relationship between theory and practice.
Network those interested in Co-operative Studies research with one another, with representatives of communities engaged in co-operative endeavours and with other interested parties, such as policy makers, co-op developers, and the public.
