Sustainability Through the Co-operative Economy Forum on October 16th 10:30am - 6 pm Michele Pujol Room, UVic

 

The Sustainability through Co-operative Economy Forum was a celebration of co-op week at the Michele Pujol Room at the
Student Union Building, University of Victoria Coast Salish Territory
on Friday October 16th, 2009.

The event featured diverse, local organsations that are
committed to sustainable and co-operative community-based action. 
Several speakers presented lectures with information and ideas in the areas of
community-economic development, indigenous models of sustainable
economy, food and energy security, participatory economics, affordable
housing and credit unions and sustainable finance.

A special presentation to kick off the event was made by Dr. Noel Keough, University of Calgary Professor of Environmental Design spoke about ecological community design at the Bob Wright Centre.

The event was co-hosted by the BC Institute for Co-operative Studies and the South Islands Regional Co-op Council.

The event was sponsored by Federated Cooperatives Ltd,
Credit Unions of BC, The Cooperators, BC Co-operative Association and
