Co-operation Among Co-ops
The B.C. Institute for Co-operative Studies is currently undertaking a knowledge mobilization project aimed at discovering the role of co-operation among individual co-operatives. The goal of this project is to analyze how this co-operation begins to take place, how it affects the co-ops that participate, and what models exist for co-op councils.
Current Activities
Creating a co-op map of the South Islands Region.
This map is being created to increase community awareness of co-operatives in their neighborhoods and also to increase co-operatives’ visibility to each other to allow greater co-operation among co-ops. If you are a co-op and would like to see your organization on the map pleas send an email to rochdale@uvic.ca with the following details:
- Co-op name
- Co-op email
- Website
- Street Address including postal code and city
- Telephone number
- A short description of your co-op that will be displayed next to your name and address
The only required fields to be posted on the map are the co-op name and address (the whole street address). You are free to leave the rest blank if you prefer not to be contacted or any other reason. The current maps are available:

Co-op week
Thiscoming October is co-op week and BCICS is planning some very special activities. During co-op week weare planning on making the option of setting up a booth on campus available to co-ops. This will allow co-ops to talk with students, faculty, and other community members about their services and the importance of co-ops. Afterwards, there is also the possibility of having the co-op representatives gather for a dinner/meeting to discuss how the can collectively solve the problems they are facing. If you are interested in these events or would simply like to be kept updated on them please email us at rochdale@uvic.ca.
