Job Description

Representing the co-op movement in BC, BCCA is a non-profit, member-driven organization that promotes the growth and development of the co-operative model as a key tool for economic and social development in British Columbia.

The position of Administration Officer is responsible for administration functions for BCCA as well as some member relations and communications tasks.
Responsibilities

Working in a small but busy office, with a wide range of projects and stakeholders, this part-time position will be responsible for:

    * Administrative duties in the office, including sharing responsibility with the Executive Director for regularly providing information and documents to the financial management services team.

    * Senior administration support for the BCCA office, ensuring that all the systems necessary for the smooth operation of the office are in effect, including the ordering and management of office supplies.

    * Management of logistics and communications for such BCCA activities such as Board meetings, member meetings and Co-op Week events.

    * Management of member relations and member services for BCCA members. This will include handling of membership applications and the management of information and occasional communications to members with regard to BCCA's programs, services, activities and events.

    * Upkeep of BCCA's web site and co-ordination of the BCCA e-newsletter.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

    * Strong commitment to social change work. Knowledge of co-operatives and the co-op movement is a definite asset.

    * Good organizational skills, with a proven ability to work independently, multi-task and meet deadlines.

    * Good knowledge of office software programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.

    * Experience using web authoring software to update web sites an asset.

    * Outstanding communications skills including superior plain-language writing skills and experience in communicating with a broad range of stakeholders and audiences.

    * Experience in community or member outreach and event organizing and co-ordination.

    * A degree, diploma, or commensurate experience in administration, communications, public relations, or a related field.
