Co-operative Learnng Centre
In collaboration project with the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) and the International Labour Organization (ILO), BCICS is developing the Co-operative Learning Center (CLC) project. The aim of the project is to create a collaborative online resource for co-operatives, co-op educators, and researchers worldwide. The CLC is a multi-lingual, virtual resource centre that provides a valuable collection of information on the effective use of the co-op model for communities around the world. It is a valuable tool for co-operative education, training and human resources, and it provides valuable information on co-operative themes for the public generally. The CLC also helps develop Co-operative Studies as an academic field, and assists co-operatives in responding to the social and economic needs of the members and communities they serve.
Developed using the popular Open Source website content management platform Drupal, the CLC allows non-technical users to add and maintain website content. Language Partners can provide translations of materials and site content through any web browser. In early 2006, BCICS was awarded $10,000 USD in grant funding from the International Labour Organization (ILO) to expand the youth resources section of the CLC in English and Spanish and to integrate with the content of the BCICS Youth Co-op Zone website.
